On May 3rd, in Brussels, the Ile-de-France Region EU Office organised a workshop entitled Promoting innovation & design at regional level: The example of the Ile-de-France Region, which was attended by around 70 participants.
The event was organised in the context of the presence in Brussels of representatives of two new regional bodies supported by the Ile-de-France Region, i.e. the Centre Francilien de l’Innovation and the Lieu du Design. It aimed at exchanging best practices with representatives from other regions invited to present the way they promote design and innovation at the regional level and establishing a dialogue with representatives from the European Commission and the innovation community on future EU initiatives and the involvement of regions in these. The participants got first hand information on the preparation by the Commission of the European Action Plan for Research and Innovation and the recently published Green Paper on Cultural & Creative Industries which opens a public consultation with a deadline for contributions on July 30th.
