There are three types of SEE events: conferences, study visits and thematic workshops.

The October 2008 conference launched the project and the second, in March 2011, will close it. These international events will bring together partners, speakers and policy-makers to highlight best practice, disseminate findings and make policy recommendations.

The first study visit was to Finland and provided the opportunity for partners and their government representatives to discuss and analyse the successfully implemented Finnish policy: Design 2005!. The second study visit was to Cornwall, England to visit the ’Design of the Time’ (Dott) project for social innovation through design.

The thematic workshops will take place throughout the course of the project, each focusing on a specific topic relating to design and innovation policy. The workshops will be held in June and November 2009 and May and November 2010, hosted by the partners in France, Denmark, Italy and Poland. The theme will be relevent to the EU and ‘Regions for Economic Change’ agenda:

1. Integrating design into regional innovation policy
2. Bridging design, sustainability and innovation in regional policy
3. Evaluation tools for the implementation of design policy
4. Bringing innovative ideas to the market more quickly

Each workshop will include guest speakers, an exchange of design programme practices and interactive sessions with partners and policy-makers, who are invited to attend and contribute with the aim of producing valuable findings that will effectively influence regional policies. Following each workshop the SEE Policy Research Group will produce a Policy Booklet with a series of recommendations on the topic.

Aside from the final conference, SEE events are not open to the public. However, content from all events will be made available on this website in the form of transcripts, handouts and reports.
