About

What is the SEE project?

SEE stands for Sharing Experience Europe – Policy, Innovation & Design and is a network of 11 design organisations sharing knowledge and experience in order to develop new thinking, disseminate good practices and influence local, regional and national policies for design and innovation. The partners represent the UK, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Slovenia and Spain. All currently work as an integral part of their own regional innovation policy and their regional governments have committed to exploring improvements in the provision and delivery of innovation, entrepreneurship and design through individual or joint policies.

How has the SEE project come about?

The SEE project has evolved from SEEdesign: a project that operated between 2005-2007 and was co-funded by INTERREG IIIC.  It was a group of seven countries that exchanged experiences in order to enhance design support programmes for SMEs. Although the partners identified where improvements could be made, the project also revealed that these programmes operated in isolation. In particular, the communication gap between design organisations and governments was exposed. The SEE project aims to close this gap. Building on the success of SEEdesign, this new project will pool design and innovation knowledge, share experiences, stimulate debate, develop new thinking and build rapport and credibility in order to influence design policy. A significant development within the SEE project is the positive engagement of regional policymakers from each partner region.

Information generated by SEEdesign (INTERREG IIIC) has been transferred to this website as a resource for design practitioners and policymakers. It includes case studies on design support programmes for SMEs and the SEEdesign Bulletins.

What is INTERREG IVC?

The INTERREG IVC Programme is part of the European Territorial Cooperation Objective of the Structural Fund policies for the period 2007-2013. Its overall aim is to improve the effectiveness of regional development policies. It seeks to achieve this through interregional cooperation and provides funding (through the European Regional Development Fund) for European regions to exchange and transfer knowledge and good practice.

The programme has two main priorities: ‘Innovation and Knowledge economy’ and ‘Environment and Risk prevention’. These priorities reflect the strategy of the European Union to encourage growth and jobs in line with the Lisbon and Gothenburg Strategy.

INTERREG IVC follows on from the INTERREG IIIC Programme that ran from 2002-2007. For more information about the Programme, please visit: http://www.interreg4c.eu/
